Press release — A print of Ganga’s footprint

As Ganga’s year draws to a close, we would like to invite you to a charity auction of an original print of Ganga’s footprint. Ganga is a symbol of conservation, as an ambassador for all species disappearing in their natural habitats. Her commemorative print carries an urgent message about the importance of preserving our shared planet. It was made through patient, trusting training and plenty of rewards — Ganga has a strong will, which is why this unique print is a truly precious keepsake of her jubilee year. The current highest bid for the print is €1,000. Offers can be submitted by 10 January 2026 at the latest. We invite both individuals and companies who regard sustainability as a fundamental value and want to leave a positive and lasting mark for the benefit of nature.

Offers can be submitted at the ZOO Ljubljana ticket desk or via the form on our website. Send the completed form to: ganga50@zoo.si. Full details of the auction and the conditions of participation are published alongside the form and on the ZOO Ljubljana website. We are available for any further questions. Thank you for helping Ganga’s story live on through your participation.

Ganga’s year 2025 — a year we at ZOO Ljubljana will not forget

Our Asian elephant and charismatic ambassador of wild elephants celebrated her 50th birthday this year. Throughout this jubilee year we invited visitors to understand nature and protect endangered species: we launched a series of educational episodes, "Elephant Saturdays", which we share on social media every two weeks and which will conclude on 27 December 2025 with a selection of the best highlights. Popular throughout the year were our monthly meet-ups with the elephant’s keepers, where visitors could get a close-up look at Ganga’s everyday life. In summer we took the elephants’ story beyond the zoo with the exhibition "Ganga — 50 Years as an Ambassador for Elephants" on Gallus Embankment in Ljubljana, published the monograph "Ganga — 50 Years as an Ambassador for Elephants and the Endangered Animal World", with the highlight being the unforgettable celebration on 16 August with a birthday cake and an elephant-themed programme for visitors.
