Red Deer

In 2018 too, two hinds, female red deer, gave birth. As is the case with red deer in the wild, in the zoo the calf hides alone, and the females visit only at feeding times. Hinds are pregnant for 230 to 240 days and usually give birth to a single calf. Most calves are born in May and June. They stop suckling at about 9 months.
