Lynx lynx carpaticus

The lynx — a short-tailed predator
Lynxes exude their predatory nature. Behind their flat feline face lies one of the key anatomical adaptations of a successful hunter. On each side of each jaw, lynxes have only two premolars and one molar, which is far fewer than the original carnivore dental formula (4 premolars and 3 molars). This allows the lynx to have a shorter jaw, more efficient jaw muscles and, consequently, an extremely powerful bite. Like most cats, they can walk almost silently thanks to retracted claws, which they then release when pouncing on prey. Their ears hear a wider frequency range of sounds and much quieter sounds than the human ear can detect.
