Birthday Celebration
You can celebrate a birthday at ZOO Ljubljana. During the celebration we experience smaller domesticated animals, with a focus on insects. We also visit the more charismatic larger animals in their enclosures and learn many interesting things about them. The celebrations are educational and fun, suitable for children and adults alike. We provide food, drink and an educational and entertaining programme.
How the celebration works:
- the celebration is for children aged 5 and over (younger children may also be invited)
- the birthday child and guests arrive 5 minutes before the agreed start time at the zoo ticket desk
- at least one parent / guardian must be present throughout the celebration
- the celebration lasts 135 minutes
PROGRAMME:
- 45 minutes - observing and interacting with a reptile and insects (indoors)
- 45 minutes - a tour of the zoo with a look at some of the animals
- 45 minutes - pizza and drinks, party games and a creative workshop in a heated / air-conditioned indoor space (included in the price),
* You can also bring a cake, snacks and drinks.
Dates:
- on weekdays the celebration starts at 17:00
- at weekends the celebration starts at 13:00 and 16:00

Celebration price:
Celebration price per child (including the birthday child)
Weekday price €11.00 + admission as per current pricing. Booking deposit €110.00.
Saturday and Sunday price €12.00 + admission as per current pricing. Booking deposit €120.00.
*the parents of the birthday child and other accompanying adults, such as grandparents, parents of invited guests, etc., pay admission as per current pricing
**the minimum number of children is 10, and the maximum is 20. When booking, please give us a rough number of children, which can vary by 2, to help us organise the guided tour and refreshments.
An indicative price for the entire celebration for the desired number of children, including the birthday child and one accompanying adult, is available in the online shop.
Booking deposit is paid via the online shop. The booking is confirmed once the deposit is paid. The difference between the deposit and the full birthday celebration price is paid on the day of the visit before the start of the programme at the ZOO Ljubljana ticket desk.
Booking:
Birthday celebration date bookings are made online in the ZOO Ljubljana online shop. Bookings are possible up to 3 months and a minimum of 3 days in advance.
The education service is available by phone between 07:30 and 11:30, so please send all booking enquiries by email, to which we respond regularly.
Number of children:
- the minimum number of children including the birthday child is 10, the maximum is 20
- we charge for a minimum of 10 children, regardless of how many fewer attend
- at least one parent of the birthday child must be present throughout the celebration
Picking up children at the end of the celebration:
- parents collecting their children after the birthday celebration may pick them up at the agreed time (2 hours and 15 minutes after the start of the celebration) at the ticket desk
Date changes:
If you wish to change your date, please notify us at least 10 working days before the chosen date at narocila@zoo.si or call us on 01 24 42 180 (weekdays from 07:30 to 11:00) to arrange a new available date. The date can be moved up to three months in advance. The booking can be used within one year of the original booking date.
Cancellation:
If you need to cancel a booked date, please notify us about it as soon as possible at narocila@zoo.si.
Special notice! The education service is available by phone only occasionally (usually between 07:30 and 11:00), so please send all booking enquiries by email, to which we respond regularly. Thank you for your understanding!
Refund of paid booking deposit:
A refund of the booking deposit is only possible with a timely medical certificate and a completed refund form.
Additional information (cake, extra drinks, etc.):
- you may bring food, drink, a radio, etc.
- if you bring a cake, you also need utensils for serving (a knife for cutting, a server, plates, forks)
- a fridge is available for storing the cake and any other snacks
- the celebration goes ahead in any weather
At ZOO Ljubljana we teach children how to approach animals, so throughout the programme we encourage them to be calm and gentle. Celebrating with piñatas is the opposite of this aim, and can also be dangerous for children, so it is not allowed at the zoo.

We will take you into the wonderful world of insects and show you some of our most charismatic animals in their enclosures. We will guide you through riddles and interesting stories as you get to know the animals.
Camping
Spend the night at the zoo in tents and prepare dinner over an open fire. We explore the whole zoo and see all the animal feedings, and we walk around the zoo when the other visitors have already left. We see what the animals do at night, and in the morning we head to the bears for some early-morning exercise and breakfast, and make the meerkats their favourite toy with a treat.
