Birthday Adventure
Want to celebrate a birthday a little differently — active and educational? The Birthday Adventure is just the thing. We will take you into the wonderful world of insects and show you some of our most charismatic animals in their enclosures. We will guide you through riddles and interesting stories as you get to know the animals.
How it works
- the adventure is designed for adults and children aged 5 and over (younger children may also be invited)
- the celebration lasts up to 120 minutes
- the birthday child arrives 10 minutes before the chosen start time at the zoo ticket desk; invited guests arrive a few minutes before the agreed start time
The adventure comprises two parts:
Part one:
- observing and interacting with small vivarium animals with a focus on insects (45 minutes indoors)
Part two:
- a tour of the zoo with a view of some of the animals (75 minutes)

Price:
- €6.50 per participant + admission as per current pricing (including the birthday child)
- at children's birthdays, the parents of the birthday child and other accompanying adults, such as grandparents, parents of invited guests, etc., pay admission at standard ZOO Ljubljana pricing
- minimum number of participants is 10 (including the birthday child)
- the Birthday Adventure is paid for at the zoo ticket desk before the start of the celebration
Dates:
- on weekdays the adventure starts at 17:00
- at weekends the adventure starts at 10:00, 13:00 and 16:00
Number of participants:
- minimum number of participants is 10, including the birthday child
- a minimum of 10 participants is charged regardless of smaller numbers attending
- at a child's birthday, at least one parent of the birthday child must be present throughout the adventure
- parents collecting their children after the programme can pick them up at the agreed time (2 hours after the start of the celebration) at the ticket desk. Admission to the zoo is charged at standard ZOO Ljubljana pricing.
- celebration participants may stay in the zoo until the official closing time
Cancellation:
If you need to cancel a booked date, please let us know as soon as possible at narocila@zoo.si.
The education service is available by phone between 07:30 and 11:30, so please send all booking enquiries by email, to which we respond regularly.
Refreshments:
If you would like a bite to eat after the Birthday Adventure, you can stop by the Safari restaurant at the zoo, where a varied selection of dishes and desserts awaits (charged separately). Bookings at safari.ljzoo@gmail.com or on 041 991 454.

Birthday Celebration
You can celebrate a birthday at ZOO Ljubljana. During the celebration we experience smaller domesticated animals, with a focus on insects. We also visit the more charismatic larger animals in their enclosures and learn many interesting things about them. The celebrations are educational and fun, suitable for children and adults alike. We provide food, drink and an educational and entertaining programme.
Camping
Spend the night at the zoo in tents and prepare dinner over an open fire. We explore the whole zoo and see all the animal feedings, and we walk around the zoo when the other visitors have already left. We see what the animals do at night, and in the morning we head to the bears for some early-morning exercise and breakfast, and make the meerkats their favourite toy with a treat.
