Conservation Events and Adventures

On weekends and public holidays throughout the year we organise Conservation Events and Adventures with the animals. As a zoo visitor you can attend them free of charge. At these events we experience, observe and learn about the animals. Along the way we also look at various models, teaching aids and biological materials.

About the events and adventures

On weekends and public holidays throughout the year we organise Conservation Events and Adventures with the animals. This year we have also prepared 8 different conservation and ecology adventures called "Become a Conservationist", which run several times during the year.

What happens at the workshops?

At the workshops you can create, learn about the animals, ask a biologist any question about nature, pet a bear’s coat, hold the skull of a lion, tiger or leopard, and make your zoo visit even more memorable.

Where are the workshops held?

The workshops take place within the zoo. We usually set up next to the enclosure of the animal in question. In cold or rainy weather, the workshops take place in the ZOO classroom or in the vivarium. The workshops are marked with an A-frame sign "Animal Adventures", which also displays the title of the current workshop.

Where can you see the daily programme at the zoo?

On the events calendar you can see the current programme at the time of your visit.

Please approach the guides individually and follow their instructions.

Workshops may be cancelled in poor weather! We reserve the right to change the programme!

BECOME A CONSERVATIONIST

For 2025 we have prepared 8 different conservation adventures, which run several times during the year.

Visit all the adventures and meet the animal ambassadors at ZOO Ljubljana. They are: Asiatic lion, Asian elephant, Siberian tiger, Goeldi’s marmoset, Nubian giraffe, Philippine hornbill, hog deer, Indochinese sika and spotted quoll. As we go, we will also discuss what you can change in your everyday behaviour when it comes to water and energy use, waste separation and reuse, as well as how to behave properly in the forest.

To mark the occasion, we have prepared a leaflet titled Become a Conservationist with Zoja and Leon, containing a range of puzzles. You’ll discover something new, solve puzzles and collect stamps. By attending all the adventures, you receive a gift that helps you save drinking water every day.

Add your tile to the mosaic of nature conservation — after all, animals and their habitats are threatened by us, humans. Only we have the power to change things. If we preserve the animals, we will also preserve their natural habitat, which is so important to us.
