For many people the red panda is the cutest animal of all, as it looks like an adorable mix of various small mammals. It has a raccoon's tail and bear-like paws, and its face has feline, ursine and panda features. It climbs like a monkey, rests and grooms itself like a cat and eats bamboo like a giant panda. The taxonomic placement of this fascinating species was a puzzle for a long time, and even today scientists are still working to determine its exact relationships with other carnivores.
Red pandas are sadly very endangered, so as zoos within the EAZA umbrella organisation we participate in conservation projects for red pandas in their natural environment. ZOO Ljubljana financially supports the projects of the Red Panda Network. With your donation, you can help them too!

Birthday Celebration
You can celebrate a birthday at ZOO Ljubljana. During the celebration we experience smaller domesticated animals, with a focus on insects. We also visit the more charismatic larger animals in their enclosures and learn many interesting things about them. The celebrations are educational and fun, suitable for children and adults alike. We provide food, drink and an educational and entertaining programme.
